Students will be guided on how to create a well-proportioned human figure and foreshortened body pose studies. This course greatly complements our Observational Drawing course and students are encouraged to attend both. Recap (through sketching the human anatomy) of the fundamentals of alignment of the body and conventional human proportions. Along with proportion and scale of the human figure students will gain an understanding of dramatic lighting used for different effects and how to mark-make with the right tone and blending techniques. Techniques to capture the illusion of projection in space including perspective, coil technique and 'rule of thumb will be explored and mastered. Several exercises will comprise the course leading to the final outcome of a well-observed foreshortened figure in tone.
